Mosquito bites: tend to be itchy rather than markedly painful. One type of localized allergic reaction to a mosquito bite is called Skeeter Syndrome. Reaction to polypeptides in the mosquito's saliva can cause inflammation (red, swollen, tender) & swelling. Are you sure it is a mosquito bite? Any signs it has become infected ? If you believe you have infection or significant allergic rxn - seek med eval.
