What happens if you have diabetes why or what is the cause of my toes being numb?

Diabetic neuropathy: Hi. The most likely cause of loss of feeling in your toes is diabetic peripheral neuropathy, where peripheral sensory nerves are damaged due to chronic high blood sugar. It can increase your risk of a foot sore that leads to infection. Keep a close eye on your feet and wear comfortable shoes. Try to optimize diabetes control. See a podiatrist at the first sign of a foot sore. Good luck!

NEUROPATHY: It could be early diabetic neuropathy. Good glucose control is the key to preventing neuropathy, monitored through an A1C less than 7. Of course, many people are undiagnosed diabetics. So, you could have had DM for years, allowing the high sugar level to affect the nerves, before beginning treatment.
