5.9 potassium: You need to speak to the physician (P) who ordered the blood test on you. If you have an elevated creatinine level, you may have a high potassium (K) due to chronic kidney disease. Other causes of a high K are drugs, such as ACE-I's. Less serious causes are high platelets or the blood being hemolyzed going into the test tube. Ask your P, as the P knows all the lab data and can give you an answer.
