Doable: Some other choices of that medication category exist that will not increase weight as much eg abilify, geodon, Latuda (lurasidone). Please explore those with your psychiatrist. In general proper monitoring is getting blood draws twice per year to make liver enzyme, glucose, cholesterol and blood cells remain within normal range- the key is to do this regularly and trouble is avoided.
