Swelling: The size change is most likely due to fluid retention and swelling of the feet

Foot size: can be affected by weight gain or weight loss which does not have to be permanent. Many women even notice a change in their shoe size during pregnancy and after birth. If you are concerned check with your doctor for the correct diagnosis and treatment. Best wishes!

Various reasons...: There is no doubt that illnesses can cause water retention and that retention, can effect foot size. When the water clears the body, the foot then reduces in size. There are also illness, such as gout, rheumatoid and osteoarthritis that affect permanent size change to the foot. These changes are due to not only edema, but actually a change in bone size.
