A member asked:

Can you tell me in receptor-aided endocytosis, what particles are taken into the cell?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A large number: Usually two receptors are bound by the ligand that causes conformational change resulting in endocytosis. This is a common mechanism for sending signals from cell surface to the interior. Growth factors, hormones, antibodies etc all work in this way. Endocytosis is not essential, as conformational change of the receptor can transmit the signal without the receptor being internalized.
