A member asked:

Can you tell me in surgical oncology field, what is bite resection ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Swallowing problem: Resection as part of specific H&N procedures can at times lead to First-bite syndrome, a relatively uncommon problem associated with surgical procedures involving the parotid gland and/or parapharyngeal space. It was initially reported as the “first-bite” syndrome in patients who complained of inability to swallow the first few bites of a meal accompanied by retrosternal pain.
