Depression: Depression can be associated with physical symptoms such as dizziness and lightheadedness. However, chest pains and passing out could be due to more serious causes such as heart problems. Therefore, you should be evaluated by a doctor. Depression can increase the risk of a heart attack in those with heart disease.

Not usually: What you described is called a panic attack, which if reoccurs is called panic d/o. It is considered an anxiety d/o. Major depression has different signs and symptoms and is a mood d/o. A person can have both. There are medications which can treat both conditions at once. A psychiatrist will be able to help. Good luck.
