A member asked:

What happens if both your mother and her mother have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, how likely are you to inherit thyroid issues?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

High likelihood: Thyroid disease tends to run along the female side of the family, though it is not 100%. If most females in your family have thyroid disease, you are quite likely to develop it yourself. However, almost all thyroid disorders are easily treated, so don't worry about it.
