HEPA filter: The best type of filter is one that says "hepa" on it - do not get an ionizer. Ozone is produced by machines that advertise things like "mountain-fresh air" and is irritating to the nose, sinuses and lungs. The various manufacturers make different bells and whistles, but you'll be good if you buy one that says hepa. They are sized based on the size of the room; don't get a bigger one than you need.

I put pure peppermint oil in my HEPA air purifier which was silly to do. I noticed after two weeks the filter smelled fairly musty and the filter started turning somewhat dark in spots. I of course tossed the filter. Can peppermint oil create mold?
