Posterior knee pain: I believe you might have Arthritis as the pain in Arthritis gets worse after long period of inactivity with cold and also activity, the other reasons for the pain in back of the knee are: Baker cyst: inflammation of Popliteal Bursa, injury to the knee cartilage, injury to the muscle of the back of thigh (hamstring muscles). Please see your provider for a good knee exam or possible Xray.
