Should be x-rayed: The big is important for gait and it is important to maintain anatomical alignment. In gait, it propels you with each step. There are two main bones that make up the big toe: The proximal and distal phalanges. If the distal is fractured (The end of toe) it many times bleeds under the nail. This causes a rapid guid up of pressure and requires drainage. Get an x-ray and evaluated.
