When does short term care turn into long term care?

Insurance term: Typically short term and long term care are insurance terms relating to coverage. However i believe in general short term is 6 mo or less. It depends on the context.

Different: I assume the short term care- implies short hospital stay in a typical hospital. On an average length of stay 4 days, some may stay much longer. Long term acute hospitals differ in the sense that insurance allows a patient to stay much longer period of time approx 3 weeks.
