Lots of reasons: There are lots of reasons for peri-anal itching. Most of them are not related to intestinal worms. Certainly, pin worms can cause the symptoms you are describing, but my suspicion is that there is another cause. If the itching persists, you should be seen by your doctor. A good internist can do a careful examination and point you in the right direction.
