Easy to treat: Do not drop lithium if that has been helpful for you bp. Thyroid deficiency can be easily treated with oral medication. Please discuss the need to check your thyroid function and need for medication with you doctor.

Thyroid replacement: From what I've heard, if this has been a valuable treatment for your emotional and mental health - it is worth the price of taking supplemental thyroid every day for life. I'm hoping that you had the opportunity to decide so that you don't feel cheated. Many people do absolutely fine w/ replacement thyroid and I hope you'll be one if you need it.

Lithium & thyroid: Hi. Yes, lithium can mess up thyroid function. If the lithium is beneficial for some other purpose (I've NEVER seen it used for high blood pressure! Do you also have bipolar disease?), just treat the hypothyroidism in the normal fashion. Good luck!
