Dark Skin: Not sure if this applies to you but when you take the red out of brown skin it looks yellow. This can happen when you are anemic.

Pale? , OK, yellow?: Depending on your ancestry, some people look greenish if anemic, most pale. If sclera ("whites") of eyes look yellow--that is an issue with your liver (jaundice) and you need to see your Dr about it ASAP. If feeling OK other than being anemic and sclera are white, then likely the anemia. Your Dr should help you determine what is "OK" while you rebound from anemia.

Yellow Skin: One would think of jaundice in anemia associated with yellow skin. The list of causes is too long to list here, but may consider hepatitis, or certain blood disorders. Other common disorders in a 22 year old not related to anemia maybe eating too many carrots(hypercarotenemia) and hypothyroidism which can be associated with both>
