Depends on the type: If it is type 1 diabetes, Insulin is the treatment. For type II diet and exercise can keep it completely under control. There are medications for those who do not wish to use diet and exercise.

Many treatments: There are many treatments for diabetes, from physical activity and healthy eating early in the disease, to weight loss surgery and Insulin much later. There are also many medications which help the body release more insulin, or make less sugar. There are also newer medications which also change the way the body uses sugars.
