Unfortunately: The recovery from adult tonsillectomy can take a while. I've had patients report discomfort for more than 6 weeks. It gradually gets better. Keep hydrated, use Tylenol (acetaminophen) or medications prescribed by her surgeon. Follow up with surgeon if pain severe, fever or other worsening symptoms.
