Stop saphris (asenapine)?: It sounds like ur cousins PCP finds that her symptoms worsen when she doesn't take saphris, (asenapine) so he is not in favor of a taper. Does she see a psychiatrist? Psych MD should be made aware of her PCPs observations. Never stop a psychiatric medication (or taper one) without the assistance of the prescribing MD. Instead, encourage ur cousin to discuss why she wants to taper w/ MD for best resolution.

I would be a pretty: poor doctor if I gave medical advice to the relative of a patient whom I don't know or treat. It looks like you and your cousin both take the same medications. I would encourage anyone with Schizophrenia to have their medications managed by a psychiatrist .
