Negative lab test: SLE is diagnosed by a list of clinical and lab criteria. The anti double stranded DNA is only one if the tests used. A negative test does not mean you don't have SLE. A positive test died not mean you have SLE. From what you wrote I am guessing your test was negative. A rheumatologist can help you track this down and tell you if you do or don't have SLE.
