GERD: There are 2 main classes of medication: 1- PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitors) which Lansoprazole (prevacid) is within this class, other medications in this class are Omeprazole, Esmoprazole, Pantoprazole, etc 2- H2 blockers (Antihistamin class) includes Pepcid, Zantac, (ranitidine) tagamet and Axid. PPI is superior to H2 blockers to reduce acid.
