Yes, to be safe: It would be prudent to use a second method. A barrier method like condom or diaphragm would be appropriate.

Doesn't matter: Being 14 hours late one time in your pack will not decrease the effectiveness enough to even worry about it . You are protected as long as other pills are all on time. Do you want to protect against STD's; then use condoms as well.
