Not surprising-: Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) has two drugs in it- Amoxicillin and clavulanate. Amoxicillin is similar in molecular structure to penicillin ( both contain a "beta-lactam ring") . Therefore there is a high probability of cross reactivity.
