He needs to ask: Your brother in law needs to get with his personal physician(s) and figure out what's going on. He may already know and be keeping it to himself. With this rash and platelet count, he may have lupus -- a fact he might not wish to share -- or they may be unrelated. He needs to tell his physician what medications he's taking, and be willing to undergo a workup for some immune & marrow problems.
