See doc for recheck: Visit your doctor to recheck pregnancy. Test may be negative in early stages. If again the test is negative, they will check for thyroid disease (very common condition that can lead to weight gain and stopping of periods). They may also investigate for prolactin hormone imbalance. If the pregnancy is negative and the hormone levels are normal, the provider will do a progestin challenge test.
