A member asked:

Does nevada have higher cancer rates? what about cancers like leukemia? worried about nuclear fallout from the test site.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: This will surprise you, but even for the "atomic veterans" who were within 5 miles of atomic blasts, nobody's been able to demonstrate solid evidence of an increase in leukemia or other cancers. Don't worry about the old sites. Much of "environmentalism" consists of shouting "Fire!" where there is clearly none -- which is unfortunate, since there are real dangers -- but not from the test sites.
