Anemia: The different measurements used to assess anemia in humans are the red blood count (RBC), hemoglobin (HGB) & hematocrit (HCT). In the USA, the hematocrit is the most reliable measurement. The hemoglobin x 3 usually is roughly the HCT value. A normal range for HCT is ≥ 40%, which is about 13gms HGB. Therefore, your level of 10.2 indicates anemia & should be worked up.
