Were you evaluated : At the time of the accident? Without knowing more it is not possible to determine if the superficial scar or damage to deeper structures are the reason for your symptoms. Follow up with your doctor

Scar Tissue: I would guess from your mention of a scar that the pain you are experiencing is from the newly formed scar tissue, which is typically more sensitive than surrounding undamaged tissue. Scar tissue is also more fibrous in nature which likely accounts for the harder quality compared to surrounding tissue. Time should lessen the pain and steroid injections are available if needed for pain management.
