Cough and joint ache: have him seen by the doc to assess for possible infectious causes of the cough and joint aches. Doubt the Whipple procedure has anything to do with these current symptoms. Good luck.

Need more info: Not too many people have even a 5 year survival after surgical treatment for pancreatic cancer. It is imperative that your father in law return to his surgeon for a through physical to rule out any recurrence of the cancer.
