Thyroid cysts: or nodules can be evaluated with imaging, biopsy, nuclear and/or lab tests. Most thyroid masses are BENIGN and cause no harm leaving alone if they are "cystic" and small. Larger, more solid ones may be biopsied and/or removed if they cause other problems like difficulty swallowing, and or produce hormones, etc that cause either hypo- hyperthyroidism. Your PCP and/ or ENT/Endo doc should guide you
