Hip pain: This may be bursitis of the hip rather than arthritis since there is associated tenderness and no known injury. Try NSAIDS like ibuprofen,if you can take them. Also, cold or warm applications and liniment May help.If symptoms persist or worsen see an orthopedic surgeon for diagnosis and treatment.

X Ray: This could be several problems, including a partial fracture, necrosis, bursitis or infection. X ray will assess alignment, identify most bone related problems. Soft tissue sprain can usually be treated conservatively once bone problems are eliminated. See your Dr to start the ball rolling. Meanwhile, NSAIDS if you can tolerate and have no kidney issues, ice pack and rest... Best Wishes !
