Several: Try to eliminate ant tech devices or TV for an hour before you go to bed. Concentrate the pre sleep routine on self maintenance and preparing for the day ahead. No caffeine products (tea,cola) for 6 hours before bed. A shower or bath may be relaxing and help.

Try these: Depends on the cause of the insomnia. Recommend no TV, video games,exercise within an hour of bedtime. No caffeinated beverages. Take the TV out of the bedroom. You can try white noise and melatonin. Anxiety, sleep disorders, thyroid disease and medications can cause as well ... so I would discuss with his physician.

Insomnia: This is the day of the social media. Looking at a bright screen prior to bed time has an affect on the brain that makes it hard to fall asleep. Best to limit screen time at night prior to bedtime. Take out the TV, iPad and iPhone from the bed room. This is a very difficult problem and not rare. Decreasing sugar and caffeine in the afternoon can help. And there is always warm milk, works!
