Sleep deficit: Most studies show that the average adult requires 7-8 hours of sleep per night. More or less may be normal for you. Occasionally getting less sleep has no long term effects. Several days in a row of sleep deficit ( usually less than 5 hours a night) can potentially impair your immune system and make you more susceptible to infections. Chronic fatigue can disrupt your normal sleep cycle.
