Insect bite : Apply a small amount of over the counter 1% hydrocortisone daily to the insect bite. Do not use for more than 5 days to prevent thinning of the skin. Also useful is topical calamine lotion or Calodryl, which has calamine and diphenhydramine ( Benadryl), applied twice daily.
