A member asked:

Rectal abscess 3 weeks after groin infection could they be related?

Anything possible: It would be essential to know the entire history, including your underlying medical conditions and what the "groin infection" was. It is conceivable that the rectal condition antedated the groin infection and was its first manifestation. It would also be helpful to have a history of diverticular disease, colitis, sexual preferences and many other factors.

Yes: It is most likely that the abscess caused the groin infection. Both need to be treated: the abscess should be drained, and the groin nodes probably will respond to antibiotics. Be sure to follow up with your doctor.
