A member asked:

My mother is diabetic from past 15 yrs age 52 and serum creatinine level 8 is found in yesterday blood test.what is this problem?how procede furthur

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Creatinine of 8?: Hi. I'm sorry, but if her creatinine is 8 (you do mean 8, right, not 0.8?), she's in kidney failure. She will have to see a nephrologist SOON to have an arterio-venous fistula placed to get ready for dialysis, and if appropriate, get on a transplant list. This is probably a result of chronically very poor diabetes & blood pressure control. If she controls her diabetes & BP, she may save her eyes.
