Adult speech/lang: An adult speech language evaluation can last 1 to 2 hours. First a detailed history about the presenting problem is obtained from the patient or family member. Reading, writing, speaking and listening skills may be evaluated. If the voice is is thought to be the problem, then a video recording or video stroboscopy is performed to check vocal cord movement. Breathing pattern is also evaluated.
