Lately when i bend my right knee starts to buckle and i lose my balance. its swollen, tender and hurts on the inside of my knee. what can cause this?

It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. What you described suggest inflammation of a bursa. It is treatable and it would be prudent to see a doctor. Wish you good health!
