Not sleeping due to anxiety and many thoughts. sometimes advil (ibuprofen) helps, can i use this temporarily or is something safer since advil (ibuprofen) is not addictive?

Try something else: Advil (ibuprofen) is really not a sleeping aid, it is not known to have sedative properties normally. I would suggest trying diphenhydramine (Benadryl) 50mg at night as that may be more effective and shouldn't be too addictive. If that doesn't work, consider talking to your doctor about some other options, including how to better manage your anxiety.

Insomnia: Often, we spend too much time dwelling on the events of the previous day when in bed. As a physician I know I do. Try to develop a period of time at least an hour before bed where you engage in non stimulating activity; i.e. news, reading etc. Avoid video games. Melatonin found in most health food stores can sometimes help.
