Not dangerous: When you do pushups, you're performing a valsalva maneuver. Baroreceptors in the carotid sinus stimulate the vagus nerve, slow the heart, but the exercise causes increased stroke volume, increased total peripheral resistance, increased blood pressure, and opening of muscular capillary beds. It's healthy exercise. Semper Fi!
