Bad Bacteria: Cleaning the anus is not abnormal, but warm water is fine. Soap causes irritation, death of 'good' bacteria, and possible overgrowth of 'bad' bacteria. Irritation leads to more permeability and if you are participating in anal sex that increases your risk of contracting infections such as HIV.
