A member asked:

I have l4-l5 herniation, i have tingling down my legs after 3-4 years of no problems since rupture in 2007. i take adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) and smoke? this worsen it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Smoking not helping!: It is unusual for a disk herniation to affect both L & R nerve roots, but certainly possible. You may have a recurrence or a build up of scar tissue which is causing nerve root compression. In either case, you need follow up, preferably with the docs who treated you before. Smoking makes disks more prone to injury and slows down recovery from these injuries..
