For what purpose?: Hgh, which is what Nutropin (human growth hormone) is, immediately raises igf-1 levels, which is synthesized primarily in the liver. For short statured children, you will see growth in height within a month. For adults legitamely using it, beneifts accrue within months, ie. Increased bone density, thicker skin, etc. I do not know how quickly .It works when taken for athletic or anti-aging purposes. No studies.

Monitoring necessary: When properly dosed (following the igf-1 blood test at regular intervals), growth hormone replacement should not have unpleasant side effects. However, if the dose is too high, side effects of growth hormone excess, such as joint pains and edema (swelling) can occur.

None thus far: Synthetic hgh using recombinant dna technology has been in the market for over 20 years and so far has excellent safety record. There are of course many indication for use of gh, some of this conditions (such as noonam syndrome and turner's) carry an inherit risk of developing certain complications regardless of being on gh or not.

Many: If you take hgh (nutropin) after your growth centers have been closed the only things that will grow is cartilage so your ears and nose will get bigger and your facial features will become coarse. Hgh is also a diabetogenic substance, so it can give you diabetes. It also enhances the growth of intestinal polyps and may cause prostate enlargement and malignancy.
