Do a Pregnancy Test: When women have any irregular bleeding, it is ALWAYS safest to do a pregnancy test. Any abnormal bleeding can be suggestive of an abnormal pregnancy, either a tubal pregnancy or miscarriage. If your pregnancy test is negative, then observe your cycles for 3 months and if still abnormal, then see a doctor. If abnormal bleeding is associated with Pelvic pain and, or fever then see a physician ASAP.
