It depends!: The less inflamed your tooth is, the easier the extraction. There is a balance between immediate extraction and allowing the inflammation to subside. The only risk is that you could develop another abscess. As long as you don't develop another abscess waiting is beneficial.

Not good: Antibiotics don't cure an abscess, merely control the spread of infection. If you have completed your course of antibiotic treatment infection can come roaring back. If your Dentist can't get you in immediately ask for referral to an Oral Surgeon.
