Well...: Everything is possible.... But is quite unlikely that this is due to a tumor... Sounds like you have a rather simple inner ear infection. Do not panic. Lets see the treatment work.

Highly unlikely: The middle ear is connected to the back of the nose via the Eustacean tube, and if there is nasal congestion, the tube doesn't function and fluid seeps into the middle ear, which your doc confirmed. If it doesn't clear in months, then consider enlarged adenoids or other sinus condition. Usually this clears promptly if related to a URI, but allergies, etc may be the cause of chronic rhinitis
