Altitude: High altitude (>2500 m) is associated with delayed wound healing and an increased rate of infection. This is thought to be due to an increase in stress hormones and decreased oxygen reaching the tissues.

What height?: Research in wound healing would be the most helpful comparison & that only becomes impaired above 14,000 feet. At that level, decrease in oxygen to tissues is a problem, & soft tissue injury recovery would slow as well. The rise in stress hormones probably slow healing too.
