It is more likely: Unrelated unless he had pain there related to the way he was positioned during his back surgery and for how long he may have been in that position. It could also mean that the pain may be related to his cancer so he should be checked at least to make sure this is not the case as related to his arm/shoulder and cervical spine. By his doctor.
