Drug safety: Physicians and dentist who can go over your complete medical history and actually examine you are the best ones to answer this question. Safety is relative and everyone should try to limit unnecessary medications. Doctors can evaluate and help decide what is proper and safe for you. Doctors over the internet cannot do this and can only make generalizations that may not apply to you!

Drug safety: I agree with Dr Sandler. Do not self medicate. Use medications that are recommended or prescribed by your physician or dentist. TMJ dysfunction is usually caused by either chronic teeth grinding and/or clenching, or a bad bite. See your dentist for diagnosis and treatment. Medication will not cure TMJ dysfunction.

Yes: OTC pain meds and cold/cough meds should be safe to take together. Make sure that the different drugs don't contain the same med in higher than recommended doses. Read the labels.

Separate conditions: 1. Seasonal flu Usually the condition resolves on its own with home care. Drink water and get a good rest. NSAIDs (e.g. Aleve, Advil) or Tylenol (acetaminophen) are also recommended every 6 hours. 2. See an OFP (orofacial pain) practitioner for TMJ diagnosis and treatment. Best of luck.
