Sitting positions: or a hard mattress are things to consider. Try to not "slouch" while sitting and try sleeping on side if possible to see if these help. Also car seats are often a problem because they have a more reclined position.

Is it REALLY tender?: Is the tailbone area REALLY REALLY tender to the touch? Are you (or whoever looked at the area) sure that it is bruised? Is it swollen? Although you say there was no injury you may get more information by getting an X-ray. You should see your doctor for an examination and opinion for imaging.
